"My art-making practice is an ongoing study of the world around me and how I fit into it, exploring feelings of anxiety and obscurity.
The works blend painting, sculpture, and drawing. I use joint compound to introduce unpredictable colors and textures. I carve delicate lines and imagine that painting over them is revealing an invisible presence.
I watch clouds move in the sky and can’t tell if I’m seeing wind or the rotation of the earth. I want to put that feeling in my art." -Gabriel Slavitt
Gabriel Slavitt earned his BFA in Sculpture from Washington University in St. Louis in 2010. He has exhibited his work in St. Louis, Philadelphia, and most recently at Central Park Gallery, in Los Angeles.
