Collection: Scott Eastwood
Vielmetter Los Angeles is pleased to present our sixth in a series of focused presentations in our online shop — highlighting artworks created by our preparators.
The gallery would not be able to execute its steady schedule of exhibitions, art fairs, and other presentations without the tireless effort and staunch dedication of our most valued team of art handlers — and it is with great pleasure that we can celebrate and exhibit their talents and ambitions as artists.
The artist featured in our online shop this week is Scott Eastwood, who has worked at Vielmetter Los Angeles for the past 2 years. In the spirit of the gallery’s ongoing commitment to artists and the arts, the artist and Vielmetter Los Angeles will contribute a portion of the proceeds to Covid-19 Mutual Aid Network - Los Angeles.
Scott Eastwood
Scott Eastwood’s work is inspired by Los Angeles’ clash of sprawl, natural beauty, pattern and color as well as an interest in the iconography of youth and counter cultures. His interests are in creating equivalences between these contrasting features.
Eastwood was born in Massachusetts and lives and works in Los Angeles. Solo exhibitions include They Never Die They Just Go To Sleep One Day at MASS gallery in Austin, Texas (2013) Eye Jail at Deep Sleep in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania (2007) and New Work City: The Adventures Of Righty Tighty Lefty Loosey at Nonesuch in Richmond, Virginia (2005). His work has also been shown at numerous group exhibitions throughout the United States and internationally including Not Quite Underground, Skulptur Projekte Munster, Munster, Germany (2017); Beyond the Salvage: A History of Screen-printing at The Fabric Workshop and Museum, Fabric Workshop and Museum, Philadelphia, (2013) and Ballads for Approaching Vultures, Okay Mountain, Austin, (2010) Eastwood was selected to attend residencies at The Vermont Studio Center in Johnson, Vermont (2013), BUOY Gallery in Kittery. Maine (2011) and the Apprentice Training Program at the Fabric Workshop and Museum in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania (2012).
Eastwood received his BFA in Sculpture and Extended Media from Virginia Commonwealth University in 2000 and his MFA in Painting from the University of Texas at Austin in 2011. He has most recently showed in Los Angeles at Gallery ALSO, Central Park Gallery, TSA-LA and Tin Flats.
